Artist and printmaker Rena Gardiner wrote, illustrated and printed guidebooks to historic places, buildings and the countryside. From her Dorset home she created a personal and individual style using colour and texture to great effect.
Martin Andrews is a graphic designer, typographer, specialist in printing history and a lecturer at the University of Reading. He is a keen collector of Rena Gardiner’s books and co-authored the recent book on the life and work of Rena Gardiner, illustrated with some 200 images.
The Dorset History Centre holds the Rena Gardiner archive including original prints and drawings some of which will be on display for the event.

Mompesson House, Salisbury
From 12 March 2016 and run until 30 October 2016.
Martin Andrews will give a lecture about Rena Gardiner on 3 November
at 2.45pm at Leigh Village Hall in Leigh – just south of Sherborne,
Dorset – DT9 6HL.
Proceeds go to The Art Fund. For tickets (£15 each) send a cheque (payable to The Art Fund) and SAE to Philippa Francis at Tolpuddle Manor, Tolpuddle, Dorset DT2 7EW.
Martin Andrews will be giving a talk and signing books at Gullivers Bookshop during the evening on 10 September.

Martin Andrews will give a talk about Rena Gardiner to the Oxford Guild of Printers at 7.30 on Monday, 1 June at The Bell pub in Charlbury just north of Oxford. All welcome!
